Snakefeast - The Pythoness

| LABEL | Grimoire Records | AVDIO | Bandcamp
| Jazz/Sludge Metal A original album that sets the bass in the center of it all, and says fuck off to the guitars. The result is excellent occult rhythms and tones that goes under your skin.

There is something extremely primitive with the music on the disc, so primitive that it takes us back to the time when we lived in damp caves and struck bone shaft on a stretched animal skin. It is that primal feeling they really succeed to deliver. The beats are something that sits in the back in your reptile brain, and you just know you like this as hell, even if you have never heard anything like it before.

The thing that gets the album to stand out is the total absence of guitars on the album, without you even noticing that they are missing. Using only the cello, saxophone, bass, drums and vocals mange Snakefeast to accomplish something that is completely unique to Sludge genre, even to the whole damn metal genre!!!

Making use of jazzy rhythm is a stroke of genius. The whole album has a swinging feeling that is indescribable in simple human words. The beats makes may blood boil with primordial rage and madness. The whole body start to move spastic in a trance-like state. It all feels so natural, yet hugely innovative and exploratory of a genre that has incredible treasures. Can not recommend this fucking album enough. BUY!

28. Sedna - Sedna

Black/Sludge Metal. The band plays an excellent mix of BM and sludge that is mind-blowing. They create divine acoustic passages that slowly builds up to an impressive scene filled with chaos and suggestive narrative melodic undertones. The album has darkness with its granite heavy riffs. And light with the burning melodies that lights up the way throuh the album like torches. And in this beautiful weird void we find the immersive chantings from another plane, that together brings it all to another dimension.

Sedna will transport you to another world, far beyond the stars and this reality. To a terrible, but yet so beautiful place, where chaos roams free and wild. Follow Sedna on their mysterious journey through dark passages, epic ancient wonders and barren wastelands.

Gravecrusher - Morbid Black Oath

Old school death metal with the rotting infection in the right place, yeah you have all the carnage and corpse ripping riffs you ever could have dream of here.

It DM done in the right way without making it a monotonic mess of nothingness. Its both memorable, brutal and has great fucking songs first of all!!!

Salvaticus - Hidden Manna

Here we have some kind of pretty cunning BM from the states. Its accurately a winsome opus that both has this unconscious, dreamy atmosphere to it, this thing of unreality, but still stands somewhere in realty with the excellent and experimental song structure.

Its like a nightmare, dreadful but oh so interesting!!!

Ab·est - Asylum

Maybe one of the most interesting releases I have heard in a long time. It embraces both the atmosphere and the extreme heaviness that I'm searching for in the art of music.

Its both moldy and fresh, an dying old man and a fetus. Its an brilliantly beautiful journey to take and a must for everyone hows looking for new music!!!

An ice cold album with female vocals with an occult doom metal atmosphere? Yes that whats the first opus from the american band Season of Arrows delivers. Its a quite dark and dreamy album that mixes from a lot of metal sub-genres with an emphasis on weight and magic.

Its a great album for those how like their music quite slow, mystic and melodic in a weird beyond the other side way. A excellent choice for those how are searching for more female fronted doom bands like Castle and Jex Thoth.

This is how real fucking sludge should sound, drawling, dirty and grinding. But Herder adds an extra dimension to their music with some good ol' stoner rockin metal which makes it an catchy rectum-kicking-experience.

This is the soundtrack to the apocalypse with humanity gone insane festering on each other and forming cults worshiping the fall of men. Its catchier than a zombie virus in a insane asylum and more bleak then death himself and a must for everyone, whatever you like BM, DM or Sludge!!!

With the somewhat silly name "Not your cup of tea" delivers the UK band Wort an quite tasty EP that's defiantly my blood cup of tea!!! The EP offers up some great slamming sludge/doom hybrid that is both catchy and heavy as a led pipe (Fire Flute).

Its ass-kickin and loads a massive weight to its sound. Its short, intense and makes me wanting more, just like a great EP should.

You will be thrown between reality and illusion with the mystical first full-length release from the stoner/sludge metal quartet Sioux. Its heavy as bunker bombs and slow and grinding like a psychosis at the postal office, and its bloody fucking great!!!

It has this galactic sound to it that are both catchy and immersing. Its both varied and thoughtful and grand in its way.
